The Only Constant is Change

We all wish at one time or another in our lives that things remain the same, something that is constant, never ending, never changing. Unfortunately as we all know, that is impossible. We know that to move forward in life we need to change and grow. That’s life: we are born, we progress, we die. I guess when you look at it, that whole process in itself is a constant because it happens to every single one of us and that will never change…unless they come up with a way for us to live forever.

I always loved fall; something about the warm, rich colours that is captivating and full of beauty. The changing of the seasons is a sight to behold.

We were driving out to Hr. Grace one weekend and as we were passing through Tilton we saw these clouds. It reminded me of a hand reaching out. The few pictures that follow after that were pretty amazing to witness as well. They were taken in Torbay.

The hand and eye of God perhaps?

There was so much to be thankful for in October. Charlotte turned 16 (where did that time go???) and Mom and Dad celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They didn’t want a big celebration or a fuss made to mark the milestone. Instead we gathered at their house. Little did we know that night it would be the last time we would all be together under that roof, in that house, where so much love and joy was shared.

I initially started writing this particular blog back in the fall, early November to be exact. (I didn’t finish it until today.) Little did I know that in just a few short weeks the words I was writing back in November actually happened in real life. One of the biggest changes I’ve ever had to face in my entire life took place. The person I had dearly loved and depended on to tell me foolish jokes and amazing stories for nearly 45 years was gone. He was my constant. Likely unbeknownst to him, he taught me about humility, the power of forgiveness and love for family above anything else.

Today, January 7th, is his birthday.

  4. Hugs to you and your family. I know it’s not easy to lose a parent. Both of mine were gone by the time I was 27. But the memories you have will keep him in your heart forever. I know he must have been very proud of the wonderful woman you became and especially when he saw so much of himself in you. You see beauty in everything around you and that’s a wonderful trait! ❤️
