It’s that time of year again where we gather with family and friends to give thanks for the many blessings that have been bestowed upon us. I don’t know about you but in our family we always celebrate the day on Sunday with a turkey dinner and all the trimmings. Monday, which is the official holiday, is traditionally a day to laze about the house in stretchy pants and snack on leftovers. You may be thinking to yourself “What do I have to be thankful for?” The world is going to hell in a hand basket; wars, mass killings, floods, hurricanes and the list goes on. It’s often hard to look away from all those things but it’s also okay to turn off the TV and put down the tablet and look around you. I’m not suggesting you bury your head in the sand and just ignore the plight of others in the world or even your own. But there’s only so much a mind can take before things can start to take a toll. We can start with being thankful for little things. For example I’m thankful that we had one of the best summers I can ever remember. It felt like an endless summer, the kind you remember from when you were a youngster. The flowers and trees bloomed and grew bigger than any other time in recent memory. Although I’m sure John wasn’t thankful for having to mow the grass.
We had a fun-filled time this past summer and tried to take advantage of as many events and activities as time would allow. Family wedding, anniversary celebrations, classic cars, not one but two fireworks displays, west coast visit, cruise ship departures, watching the capelin roll – you name it we did it! Here are just a few of the snaps. I’m grateful for the little things. Just enjoy whatever and whoever you have around you and give thanks for that. Lastly, I’m thankful that I had the opportunity to sit and enjoy a delicious dinner at my mother’s table. We are not all awarded that luxury and I’m thankful every day for her and all she does for us. Happy Thanksgiving one and all!

Until Next Time,
Andrea
