It’s been 36458 days since winter came knocking on our door! Okay, it hasn’t been that long but it certainly feels that way. As I’m sitting here at my computer, an alert pops up in the corner of my monitor saying “HEAVY SNOW – TOMORROW”. I glance at the opposite corner of the screen, 2026-04-03 and I give a heavy sigh. Please, somebody make it stop! In my last blog post back in March, I was lamenting the woes of winter and how I longed for warm summer days and all that goes along with it. I even sounded a bit optimistic that we wouldn’t have to wait much longer for the winter season to finally be over. What a fool I was! I think I got ahead of myself. Maybe I jinxed it by posting bright, colourful pictures of everything that reminded me of summer and stating it would be here soon. Winter is still here. So I decided to lean into it, figuratively of course, and post some snaps. Winter, for me, is when I take the least amount of photos. Yes, the scenery is beautiful but I have this thing about being cold. The snaps you’ll be looking at are ones I’ve taken these last few months along with some from last winter that I never got a chance to write about and post. Hope you enjoy them.

I love taking pictures of waves especially when the surf is high. Sometimes the waves are crashing so hard you can feel the vibrations in your chest. I always make sure, however, to keep a safe distance from the water.

While winter can be brutal, it can provide an amazing opportunity to capture some amazing night sky objects. The air looks and feels much clearer on a crisp, cool night.

These next set of photos are from a lunar eclipse in March 2025.

Getting bundled up and ready to head out to take a few eclipse snaps Brrrrr!

If I said it once, I’ve said it a million times, I don’t know how these little creatures survive in the winter! It’s amazing how resilient they are despite the frigid temperatures and dumpings of snow.

Easter has come and gone now. Thankfully the the snow did not stop the Easter Bunny from delivering some extra special goodies to everyone. We had a great day at Mom’s celebrating with the family along with a delicious turkey dinner and too many desserts, as usual. There was lots of laughter, many stories, plenty of chatter and even a few tears. But moments like that make you realize that there’s always something to be thankful for no matter what’s happening with the weather. We may curse it sometimes but the long winters make us appreciate the good times that much more. My last word on the matter is this: Kiss me arse, winter and don’t let the doorknob hit ya on the way out!
Until Next Time!
Andrea
