Making A Connection

So, I took a little hiatus from social media recently. That means no Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Snapchat. I needed to separate myself from all the information I was constantly being bombarded with on a daily basis. I logged out of all my apps and unplugged from the world wide web…to a point. I still went online every so often to read the latest Young and the Restless spoilers, hoping for the day where Smilin’ Jack Abbott actually “one ups” the Mustache. The first little while was great. I had some free time to do other things like have Charlotte kick my butt in MarioKart, catch up on some shows I had recorded on the PVR, take a few extra snaps on the camera.  But it didn’t take long for FOMO to kick in. What’s FOMO you ask? Well, its the “fear of missing out”. I kept wondering what was happening on Facebook, who was sending me Snapchats with silly filters and so on. Essentially it’s a desire to stay connected with what others are doing. It was weird being disconnected from all of that because I had been using Facebook pretty much since its inception. By being off line I felt like I was missing out on all the good stuff. As much of a cesspool the internet and social media can be I missed seeing the foolish selfies, cute baby pics and Cape Shore memes. Then it dawned on me: If I’m not on social media how am I going to be able to share my blog posts with people? The horror!!! With that in mind here are a few snaps that I’ve taken over the last little while; some go back as far as November and Christmas. Hope you enjoy them!

Here are a few pictures I took one incredibly windy day last November in Middle Cove. The winds were fierce and the waves were some of the biggest I’ve ever seen down there.

“The sea was angry that day my friends.”

I know Christmas is a distant memory but I still felt like sharing these few pictures with you.

A bulb may be burned out but the light shines just as bright.

I don’t know about you but it seemed as though this winter hasn’t been as long or fierce as it usually is. Mind you, even though the calendar says SPRING, it certainly doesn’t feel like it most days.

As often as I’ve been to Middle Cove Beach I never really noticed these smooth rocks before. I guess the tide was low. Pretty amazing how the ebb and flow of the water created this.

These next few snaps are from the ice “storm” we had a few weeks ago. It always looks so beautiful. But it doesn’t last long thankfully.

The crows had a grand time feeding on some nuts I put out for the Blue Jays. If you snooze, you lose!

Not to worry, the Blue Jays get more than enough to eat on many occasions!

Even on cool nights you can depend on the downtown lights to give you a few good snaps.

I’m always glad to have company when I’m out snapping 😉

These were taken Good Friday morning. We got up around 5:15 am and headed out to catch the sunrise. I’m truly blessed to have a husband that puts up with my shenanigans.

Until Next Time,

Andrea
